Check-in and Drop-Off Details

For Overnight and Day Campers

College ID Showcase @ UConn August 1-3, 2018

OVERNIGHT CAMPERS (continue to scroll down for Day Camper check-in information):

Time 10:45 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.  Wednesday, August 1: Check-in at Snow Dorm

  • The online address for Snow Dorm and the South Dorm Complex will lead you into construction. Do not use that address (626 Gilbert Rd. Extension)

  • You need to go to the "S" parking lot behind the dorm complex for drop off.

  • There is no exact GPS address for the parking lot, but it is right beyond the buliding address for UConn's School of Fine Arts.

    • Use that GPS address instead: 830 Bolton Rd. Storrs, CT.  The S-LOT is just before or after the School of Fine Arts depending on where you are coming from.

  • We will have hockey staff in the S-Lot to help you find your way.
  • The dorm drop off will be quick - the camper will check-in to the dorm with their personal gear, and then drive to the rink to check-in there with their hockey gear.
  • You need a parking pass to leave your car in the S-Lot or you will get ticketed. Drive your car to the rink.
  • Parking passes are available at the rink for those campers driving themselves (not for parents at drop off). Drivers will be required to relinquish their car keys to the camp director to get the parking pass, and keys will be returned upon completion of camp.
  • If parents wish to assist in drop off at the rink, please note that parking in the rink lot between during the day is restricted to commuter students (even during the summer) and you could be ticketed.  Parking is recommended in the South Parking Garage <http://park.uconn.edu/visitor.html>, which is 0.3 miles from the rink.
  • This map shows you the best way to get to the rink from the dorms.
  • If you miss the dorm check-in (ends at 11:30 a.m.) just go directly to the rink.
  • Rink GPS address is 509 Jim Calhoun Way, Storrs, CT
  • Once the camper gets to the rink, they will find out which team they are on and get a locker room assigned. They will put their hockey gear in that locker room.
  • The opening meeting will start following rink check-in in the stands inside the rink. Parents are welcome to stay if they would like; please note the parking information below.
  • Parents, friends, relatives are invited to watch any of the practices and games, but again, you could get ticketed in the rink lot. Parking is recommended in the South Parking Garage <http://park.uconn.edu/visitor.html>, which is 0.3 miles from the rink.
  • Dismissal on Friday, August 3 will be after the camper's game. The first game ends at 10:45 a.m. The second game ends at 12 p.m.
  • Campers will find out which team they are assigned to at check-in at the rink.

What should overnight campers bring?

  • Arrive in work-out clothes. After opening meeting, some teams will head right into strength sessions, while others will head into their first practice.

    • You will need to bring toiletries - they can be left in the dorm suite bathroom so you don't need a shower caddy or shower shoes.
    • Cases of water discouraged as they are cumbersome to bring up to dorm and to the rink w/ all other gear and disposal/storage gets tricky.
    • Snacks for the dorm are up to the parent. They will be eating buffet meals at breakfast, lunch and dinner. And will have down time to go to the Student Union, bookstore, Dairy Bar where they will have access to plenty of tempting treats.
